1·3 months agoSame, I just pre ordered one the other day and now with this redesign I am considering canceling it. It’s not that bad for me, I just really loved the old design. But I do love they are adding more features, I was bummed the time 2 wasn’t going to have a compass.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•protonmail blocks account creation through tor
26·3 months agoI previously commented I would write the support, now I actually read the docs first and found out why:
If you want to create an account over tor you can, just not via the clearnet URL, probably due to rate limiting by IP adress. However if you use their Onion Link as specified in this article by their support (https://proton.me/support/tor-setup) it works just fine (as far as I just tested). So great! Because using .onion services is far more secure than accessing clearnet over Tor anyway.
Here the url, verify it with the link in the support article tho: https://protonmailrmez3lotccipshtkleegetolb73fuirgj7r4o4vfu7ozyd.onion/

20·3 months agoJust tested it, same here. Clearnet works but tor not. I will contact support since part of the reason I like to pay for unlimited is to subsidize free, anonymous accounts.
Edit: here is my other comment:

5·3 months agoThis is awesome, I am going to imediatly get a test cluster set up when I get to work. Snapshots with FC support was the only major thing (appart from Veeam support) holding us back from switching to Proxmox. The HA improvements also sound nice!

Technology@lemmy.world•Samsung’s One UI 8 might shut down bootloader unlocking on Galaxy phonesEnglish
2·3 months agoHuh, I have the s23 and just updated yesterday. I still have it in dev options (haven’t tried enabling it though)
Wierd if they allow it for older but not newer phones on the same os version.
I would hate that though, I am really hoping to flash some other OS when Samsung stops with security updates.

Bicycles@lemmy.ca•Why am I so slow at cycling?
6·4 months agoI think considering you started biking 1.5 months ago you are off to a great start! I think many people in your position would be unable to complete a 33KM trip, especially considering your practice is overwhelmingly city biking.
I of course am unaware of your previous physical shape, but assuming your body has not been trained to bike it will take you a while to get into shape.
My average is around 20-25km/h not including traffic stopping etc. It took me over three years to get here by biking to work daily, which is half uphill and half downhill (so I always have to bike uphill somewhat) and whenever I started feeling comfortable with my speed, pushing harder until uncomfortable again.
Some tips I learned in this experience and some I got from others:
-
Your muscles will get good and more efficient the more you use them. To avoid becoming complacent in your speed in the city for instance, consider every opportunity to push yourself.
-
Never going to make that green light anyway? Not today, try to make it as if your life depends on it. If you don’t and have to break hard (you won’t at first) remember you did it to be able to do it in a year if bot today.
-
Similarly racing plublic transport (where safe) can be fun as well as good training.
-
Isn’t it nice biking in the wind shadow of this e-bike? Fuck e-bikes(cheaters(JK)), try to always pass them (great interval training) (the slow ones anyway, in my city some are capped at 20kmh and go more like 15)
-
Nutrition: I noticed after a year or so that certain breakfast items made it easier or harder to push myself biking
-
I don’t know if you are EU or NA, but if EU or similar consider biking places that are relatively nearby, but you usually drive. This way you get new experience and slightly longer trips than you are used too which always ‘stretches’ you a bit more, then you ‘snap back into place’ a bit better that where you started.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Reminder: Proton Mail addresses have vendor lock-in
16·5 months agoYes I realized this too late, after I had already used the private email adresses from proton pass everywhere.
My solution ( while not completely private but better than using the same one everywhere) Is to use my own firstname.lastname@domainicontroll.com for thing already linked to personal info and then set up custom domain for proton pass hidden emails to @fuckgoogle.otherdomain.com
Then if proton ever goes to shit I can still go to another email provider and all I have to do is move the domains. Yes it isn’t free but there is no such thing as a free lunch, self hosting isn’t free either and I don’t have the mental bandwidth to self host an email server right now.

5·5 months agoThis is INSANE, my entire household could make imense use of theese with our shitty eyesight! I don’t cary about any reviews because anything like this will be 1000x better than existing bifocals, I will be preordering 3 pairs of theese as soon as possible. I just hope they don’t patent the shit out of them so there will be competitors and the prices won’t be astronomical.

4·5 months agoSound cool, but I wonder how durable it is. I pedal pretty hard and I always lessen the torque when shifting to not degrade the components as fast. If my bike is shifting on its own, wouldn’t that cause more untimely shifts which grind down parts?
