I wonder whether solutions like Twincat for industrial PC/PLCs will be affected by this. Interfacing directly with the kernel and replacing the scheduler are, AFAIK, fundamental to making Windows viable for real time use.

Not that turning a key takes any longer than pushing a button
I don’t remember using a text interface to install Bazzite
During the pandemic my partner stayed inside for about a month, I was the only person she interacted with. I kept going to work because I was an “essential” worker (not really), so I kinda envied her, but by the end of that month she was going a bit crazy.
Eh that was me playing games in English before understanding a single word. Sooo many Amiga games where I went forward just by choosing stuff at random.
Because fuck blind people, that’s why
Windows can’t read your linux partitions, it doesn’t support them, so it’s almost impossible for it to damage your installation. It used to be that it could mess with the bootloader, but since UEFI got implemented, that’ become less likely.
What does it do when you boot into normal mode? Does it get to the login screen or not? Do you see error messages?
If you get to login but no further, it could be a problem with your user, like a bad shell setting, since rescue mode logs you in as root usually (I’m not very familiar with debian/ubuntu based distros), otherwise it could be you installed/updated/removed the wrong package(s), unfortunately as far as I’m aware apt
doesn’t have history rollback capabilities, so undoing that is going to be difficult.
This is an unpopular opinion, but when you’re still inexperienced with linux, the quickest way to fix your system is just reinstalling. Back up your whole home dir beforehand and you’ll just have to drop it back in place to get all your data and settings back. If you have more than one user you may want to be careful with the UID, you may have to chown -R
the whole directory.

Every time I see PowerShell syntax, I have this dissonance where I feel like it should be better than Unix shells, its command are surely more descriptive, still… It disgusts me for some reason. Too long, maybe?
I think you’re confusing Lemmy’s alignment to freedom and the common good with a circle jerk. Most of us are here because we don’t want to be bound by the limits of centralized, proprietary social networks, how can you be surprised that the people here try to make the same choice in other aspects of their lives?
30km/h is godly speed in such conditions
What’s your commute time/distance like?
Or maybe, someone who has the strength of character to choose a car on merit, without needing a tank to make them feel safe, is more likely to NOT be hostile to those who may be different from the norm, again because they’re not scaredy little fucks who are afraid of everything and have to appear intimidating all the time.
Title | Legion Go S - SteamOS | Legion Go S - Windows | Difference |
---|---|---|---|
Cyberpunk | 59 FPS | 46 FPS | +28% |
Helldivers 2 | 70 FPS | 65 FPS | +7% |
Doom Eternal | 75 FPS | 66 FPS | +14% |
Spiderman 2 | 63 FPS | 64 FPS | -2% |
Witcher 3 | 76 FPS | 66 FPS | +15% |
Anything above 5% is significant, 10% on the same hardware IMHO classifies as massive
Who’s this person who doesn’t know what social to join, but knows them all by the logos?
That was a big culture shock for me, seeing motor vehicles share the same lane with bicycles… I guess nowadays with ebikes and escooters it shouldn’t be as surprising.
My parents’ ISP router has Alexa integrated into it
In Belgium I saw petrol mopeds on bike lanes as well
