If I had money in the bank to buy a place outside of any of the counties fighting to be super powers right now I’d do so. The U.S., Russia, U.K., China, and a few others just all seem to be toxic for lack of better terms right now.

100% agree. Safer practices need to be everywhere. That said, I agree distracted driving should be punished harsher than non-distracted accidents, but proving such goes into robbing people of privacy further. I really don’t want more monitoring systems.
Texting and driving should be harsh, running stop signs/red lights as well. But accidents of not seeing a stop sign at night are going to happen, or even a pedestrian crossing not at a crosswalk with no way to see them in the dark. Hopefully we find good solutions, but our losses won’t be near 0 unfortunately for awhile

Stairs might be pretty close to the same danger level as cars. If you consider how many people don’t live or work in a 2 plus story building, maybe more so compared to cars.

I can argue that the woman may have fallen down the stairs with her baby on purpose. We can say she didn’t take proper precautions, use the hand rails, ran down/up the stairs, only carry the baby in a safe device like a car seat, or that she simply should not allow the child to risk traversing up/don the stairs.

With a gun/balcony, the intent was pretty clear. With the stairs/car, they are both presumed accidents.

Woman falls down stairs while carrying her baby, she killed him, accident. Woman throws her baby off the balcony, she killed him, murder. Both cases the baby was killed, both sad. But they are different.

Yeah if you still run into an issue for some reason add a virtual monitor in Windows, or “sudo rustdesk --option allow-linux-headless Y” (it’s in the GUI as well) and it should take care of it, but I haven’t had to do that

I remote to a Mint on a laptop with a closed screen, and pop_OS that doesn’t have a screen. (Second one has my jellyfin server). Connecting from my android phone and even my Windows laptop at my last job

Ah, I haven’t tried Apple products. Works with Mint, Android, PopOS, Debian, without any tinkering in my experience. I remote from my phone to my media server/laptop/and other junk when needed.

Thanks for this info, I installed Medieval Dynasty the other day trying to play co-op with her. Unfortunately couldn’t join, I assume because I didn’t have a legitimate version. Hers was paid for but I had just torrented mine in attempt to play locally. Was hoping I didn’t have to pay for a game twice to play together .

Not sure why I haven’t played it, does anyone know if it has co-op across platforms? Like if I install it on a linux distro will I be able to join a spouse who is playing on her Xbox or Windows?

The train would be great. The prompt was cross country for a weekend trip. All of your responses fail to realize the prompt. If it isn’t over 1000 miles, there is no way it’s cross country in our country. The weekend is 2 days.

If you had a sleeper car it’d work alright. Obviously leaving Friday night would make it much nicer. Otherwise your always stuck with after dark Saturday night, and maybe a couple hours Sunday morning. But if you can get bottomless mimosas with breakfast and sleep during the 9 hours back it’d make you be able to leave in the afternoon Sunday.

Was curious about the lake on that last one, ouch. That one might be hard with any speed rail. Chicago Detroit should be easy, Minneapolis a little harder but you could probably get it down to 6 hours each way

I never said the plane was practical for a weekend getaway either. My response was that this “I want trains so people can have cross country road trips on the weekend” just wasnt practical to the majority of cases. A lot of people are saying HSR would be good for interstate trips, and yes they would. Even next state over.

But right now it’s set up horrible so it is more expensive and takes longer for most even semi long trips. Like this

Cheapest and fastest route is to drive. Once you factor in everything it’ll take to get into an airport and out, and you have a vehicle while your there. So most Americans compare prices to that and say it’s better to just drive. It’d be nice if there was a 3 hour train that covered that for $50. Trips like that Id love

I usually like the demeaning flights if I have to fly, so I shoot for Spirit. And I try to keep to just a backpack if I can, a tiny suitcase I can carry on instead if I need dress clothes.

Last time I flew Nashville to Orlando I threw a couple items in a grocery bag and went with that. All my toiletries are usually in a small zip up bag.

Spirit is terrible, but when it’s $44 for the flight why not. I’m already going to get sexually harassed by TSA, I’m not really fretting the attendant running in circles wondering where the pilot is at.

The train from to Miami has been quoted and attempted over and over since I was about 7 growing up in the greater Orlando area. 28 years later and it’s still in talks. They tried to connect Tampa to Daytona through Orlando. (All they needed to do was follow I4 as the road already goes there.). This is as far as that has gotten: (15 years on that alone)
