It’s worth noting, though, one of the biggest reasons why those work requirements are so daunting for the low-income: car-dependent transportation systems, which functionally require people who can’t afford cars to drive long distances to reach job centers, attend far-flung interviews, access even the most basic of opportunities.
45·3 days agoThe BMA said its opposition to Palantir’s involvement in the NHS was a matter of good governance, not ideology. “If Palantir’s software is being used to target individuals in immigration enforcement and is being deployed in active conflict zones, then that’s completely incompatible with the values we uphold in the delivery of care,” said Dr David Wrigley, the deputy chair of the BMA’s general practitioners committee. He warned patients would be alarmed and could choose to withhold information from their doctor if they did not trust the organisation processing their data or there were fears about what the data might be used for. The Liberal Democrat MP Martin Wrigley said the interoperability between the data systems Palantir provides for health and defence was “profoundly worrying”. The Conservative MP Kit Malthouse wanted to know if a military could target particular individuals with particular characteristics by using Palantir’s ability to process a large pool of data. Mosley said: “We provide an enormous amount of control and governance to the organisations that use our software for that purpose to manage precisely the kind of risks that you’re talking about.” Malthouse said: “That sounds like a yes”.

Your English is fine. The same words often evoke different mental images from one person to another. Sometimes I have trouble distinguishing when to embrace literal meanings and when to go with the general gist of words. Thanks for addressing my comment, a gentle reminder for me.

2·10 days agoThere’s no option to uninstall on my neighbor’s phone.
Gemini now has a second set of toggles buried in its settings menu. You can go to Profile → Apps inside the Gemini app and manually disable access to Phone, Messages, WhatsApp, or Utilities. But these are turned on by default, even if you’ve disabled tracking in the past.
So I just went to the app in my neighbor’s phone, and it asked me to switch. I said no, and it won’t let me do anything else. So will this need to be done next week?

Think of all the data breaches of big insurance and clearinghouses. That’s definitely going to be an AI nightmare.
