Cuomo is still in the race as an independent, but the general is FPTP and right now he’s in a race with two other “centrists” to split the asshole vote. Every single one of them is incredibly independently unlikeable. I can’t wait to see him lose twice.
Makes sense. The only people who drive in NYC as their primary means of transportation are rich and either own their own place or can afford a $700/month parking spot. I doubt Cuomo or Adams have taken the subway within the last 10 years.
You can also do that in TypeScript
readonly a!: Foo;
readonly b = bar.toFoo();
constructor(){
a = bar.toFoo();
}
My dad’s like that. One time he came to visit he didn’t like that the closest spot was 2 blocks away, so he drove around until he found a spot 5 or 6 blocks away
Also about how JavaScript is stupid because it didn’t stop them from subtracting a user date input value from an empty object (which caused them to break their website (also what’s TypeScript?))
No driver in their right minds would approach one faster than 25kmh
You’ve clearly never met NYC drivers
The number of new devs who complain about having to write a unit test is too damn high
Don’t get me started on Medium and Large tests
Edit: see below for examples
2 parking spots per apartment seems uhh excessive.
Here in Toronto you get 0-1 if your apartment has a garage, otherwise you can get a fairly cheap residential permit that lets you ignore metered parking on your street. The number per street is limited, so you’re almost always guaranteed a spot.
Walking down highways is not advisable
You think MAGAts are out here getting their incel mobiles inspected?
I don’t know if you realize that you live in a society of humans, nor cars
NYC is so fucking hostile that even if they did implement those things, absolutely no one would use them. Half of it wouldn’t fit in the part of Manhattan that has congestion pricing anyway.
What actually causes congestion is a shit ton of cars trying to kill each other to get 5ft ahead of the next guy while competing with box trucks and ebikes for the only lane that isn’t blocked by a double parked cop car.
To put that thing to shame, I’ve traveled internationally in a Honda Fit that was packed like a clown car.
I actually lived there for most of my life, NY’s metro does not compare. Only in-station transfers are free, one every 2hr. If you need to transfer from the 2 to the C in Brownsville, godspeed. Half the time it charges you anyways when it’s not supposed to. Don’t get me started on the lack of connection between the G and Atlantic, and the non-existent M loop.
Toronto is still about 50 cents cheaper via the exchange rate. Transit is far more reliable, and the average subway station is waaaaay nicer.
Fuck the MTA
Parking honestly isn’t terrible but a lot of it is residency based, so yeah it’s harder as a visitor. I think you can get a temporary visitor parking pass at City Hall depending on how long you’re staying for.
For the TTC (titty sea!), download the Presto app ahead of time or buy a Presto card when you get here. Also be sure to check out the PATH!
You picked a lovely time to visit, the weather is wonderful right now! (Aside from the week of rain we just had)
In Toronto, you get free transfers for 2 hours for $3. I can run an errand across the city and come back for a single fixed price.
Yesterday I waited ~20m for the TTC, then went and got Tim’s, walked back to the TTC, and caught it as it finally arrived.
Original ETA was like 5m
The only people saying that are pedants who maybe passed a python crash course. In industry no one gives a shit.
Edit: except that engineer is a protected term in some countries
That’s cheap lol, this would be at least $7k/mo in a major city
