This is why I always unplug the other drive before I install Linux, because the one time I didn’t I couldn’t boot the other OS anymore.
I didn’t format the wrong drive, but the Linux installer automatically detected the existing EFI partition and just overwrote it. Luckily, that was the only issue and I was able to recreate the EFI partition, and it taught me a lesson that I will never forget.

Sounds like the group policy from your work isn’t allowing the connection, SMB connections can be limited to domain users only.
Nobara is a great suggestion by @el_gringo_loco@lemmy.one, but I’d also throw out a suggestion for Bazzite if you want the “SteamOS”/Steam Deck experience.
It does have the KDE desktop environment underneath to do all the non-gaming stuff as well, but if gaming is your number one focus, it’s a pretty cool setup.
