Yeah, super hard to find…
It never went away. It’s still a feature. It’s just stored locally on your device. Thats it.
Misleading as fuck. The Timeline feature never went away - it’s just device-only.
Ah, this makes sense now. I was wondering why it hadn’t been updated in a while, that was my only hangup.
You can get a Dell micro Optiplex for less money and have a full fledged i5 or i7 processor with similar power usage.
Absolutely, I’ve got a cluster of mini PCs with 7th/8th gen T sku i7s, plus an Optiplex SFF running a standard i7-7700, and everything together draws less than 100W on average.
What if I decide to digitize my entire movie catalog? I would have to rip those DVDs and blurays…
Synology is already enshittifying itself
$5 for mine
Ah, that’s a good point. The full tower version has space for that, though.
I’m not saying you should get an Optiplex 7050 specifically, but a used office PC tower (like an Opitplex, HP Elitedesk, Lenovo Thinkcenter, etc) can be picked up for under $500, ready to go, and has more than enough processing power to handle the loads you’re asking of it. Plus, they usually have Intel’s AMT management option (aka “vPro”), which allows you to remotely manage the PC even when it’s powered off.
Not if you get a laptop that supports battery charge limiting. Like a Thinkpad.
Games run faster with LMDE6 than they did with Windows 10 on my 5800X3D/7900XTX PC.
