  • I picked up mirrors edge again after some weeks without playing it and i cleared a level yesterday. Was going to do a session now as well, but now my save had been wiped. Probably related to me struggling to figure out lutris and heroic and messing around abit yesterday evening. It a little of a bummer but at the same time i found the game a little too frustrating - a good idea not executed well enough to be a truly enjoyable experience in my opinion.

I am abit indecesive at the moment. I fired up both tales of symphonia on gamecube and final fantasy 7 on ps1 yesterday, kinda want to start another jrpg but at the same time not quite where i want to commit myself to a long game. Also installing fallout 3 now so hm…

I fired up theme hospital for some fun this week as well though, that was a welcome nostalgia trip :)

  • Mirrors edge. Started a few weeks ago and been getting a couple of sessions in since. Its quite fun but also very frustrating. The controls are almost there but its just janky enough for me to die stupidly at the same spot over and over if it requires some combination of actions that is difficult. I somehow survived jumping from a subway cart to another without understanding how i actually was supposed to do it properly. And the combat i dont like. But will likely try to play thru it.

I also just discovered that xenia has a linux build now so i will be exploring some x360 games in the near future to see the state of it.

  • Yea me too, there are certain aspects of emulation that gives a better experience that in my opinion makes up for not playing on original hardware, such as save states and fast forwarding. I dont have the time to play games for two hours at the time often so if save options are scarce i wont progress without save states. And skies of arcadia would have been a nightmare to play without fast forward, i think i skipped 6-8 hrs of repetitive attack animations in my playthrough (as judged by diff in play time in retroarch vs in-game).

But i would love to play on original hardware once in a while still
