Speaking from a university perspective - we’ve been scaling back our computer labs a fair bit, as there’s a lot of people with personal laptops and tablets now. Almost half our former workstations are now eliminated or BYOD.
So a lot of Windows machines are just gone.
FVO readable for future me, it’s not so bad. I don’t have to worry about other people so much. :)
Sure. Nothing stopping you writing readable well commented perl. Just avoid some of the more terse statements. It can be a challenge though.
Shrug. If you don’t like Perl, don’t use it.
It certainly has its issues. I find that the things people have trouble with are the things I tend to like about it. Of course, reading it later is a problem sometimes. :)

Honestly doesn’t sound like a terrible idea on paper, but this spam outbreak could kill it before it gets off paper in a real way. Giving devs a bad taste will stay around a long while.
Edit: and of course the well-earned general attitude toward cryptocurrency as scammer playgrounds is automatically putting it way in the red too.
