Manufacturers would probably require owners to go to their garages, autonomous cars would probably kill of most independent mechanics. Then we’ll see massive price gouging and planned obsolescence - this is the same industry that had widespread cheating on emission testing after all

These are hurdles that will need to be overcome, a required service schedule would probably achieve most of this though.

Most people will quite happily drive cars believing they are fine - I will often drive a car and have to point out to friends that their brakes are worn, or their tyres are unsafe, the majority of people driving unsafe cars aren’t choosing to ignore safety issues, they don’t know that they’re unsafe in the first place. A computer that can look at the general trend in vibration or engine and braking efficiency would be a vast improvement for the majority of car drivers

If we get to the point of self-driving cars, it’d make sense that the car would refuse to drive if it’s unsafe enough

I’ve stopped using bare env files on the repo, I’ll create an env file that populates values from a secrets manager and check this file info git. Or throw the env file info a parent dir because they’re probably user specific anyway.

Having an env file that needs to exist but isn’t checked into source control creates “works on my machine” issues as well, just load them from the environment and provide a programmatic way of setting the environment (or stop pretending they’re part of the project and use direnv/Mise to setup the env)

This is pretty cool and solves one of the problems I’ve had whilst playing around with things like Cursor: that it breaks my flow having to wait 5-10 minutes for it to generate code/documentation, I’d really like to use that time to focus on my main work whilst it does some grunt work. You can pay for a 3rd party to penetration test your app, it’s good practice to do this before you launch an app, after any significant changes, and annually at a minimum.

There are also a growing number of companies offering continuous penetration testing - basically, automated pen tests - but these are expensive and it’s difficult to convince companies that the cost is worth it

A shadow contract is one of few mechanisms to enter large-scale consensus (it isn’t THAT large when compared to a solar or galactic scale, but large enough for planetary control, and with some clever management, can scale larger).

You don’t know that, I’ve seen shadow contracts that apply to intergalactic scales. I would wager they can be used for interdimensional organisations
